The fight to stop the slaughter of wolves
::BREAKING NEWS::The Fight to Stop the Wolf Slaughter Has Just Begun Dear Peter, This morning, just after the delisting of the northern Rockies'gray wolves from the endangered species list was made official,Earthjustice leapt into action to serve the U.S. Fish andWildlife Service with a 60-day notice of our intent to file alawsuit to stop the wolf slaughter. This notice of intent isusually required by the Endangered Species Act as a precursor tolegal challenges. The premature decision by the USFWS to strip the protections ofthe ESA from the wolves promises to undo the progress of recentyears. Independent scientific analysis tells us that even theircurrent population of 1,500 is well below the numbers needed toensure long-term survival of the species. This tragicallymisguided decision will allow Wyoming, Idaho, and Montana tokill all but 300 wolves. Earthjustice is not going to just stand by and let that happen. The USFWS under President Bush has decided to ignore science infavor of handing the state governments a license to slaughterthe wolves for political gain. Behind the scene agendas
Well, what can be said about the "scandal" thats being circulated about McCain and hids alledged wrongful relationship with lobbyists (cute, female lobbyists, even better!) that could be understood by the average US Citezen? Washington, no politics, are driven by lobbyists, who as citezens of the United States, have the right to put a bug in the ear of whomever they wish, and do so to gain a specific edge with the men and women in both houses, so that their particular veiwpoint or agenda gets attention it might not otherwise get. This is not to say that said agenda isnt worthy of special audience, only that without someone pushing for it, it may not get looked at as deservedly as some would believe it should.
Now, a certain amount of lobbying, is not only a good thing, its an absolute civic duty that without, would render the passage of bills or laws that are good for the few at the top, but not so good for those of us at the bottom. We MUST continue to verbalise our needs and wants and interests, through lobbying, so that this statement remains true......."of the people by the people for the people. We must communicate the wishes of the people to those whom we have elected to steer this great nation.
As is the case in all people, some are good and some are not, so too the lobbyists must be scrutinized to determine that their intent is honorable and just. We need lobbyists. We need to rely that they serve the greater good and are not corrupt.

The McCain Update - February 22, 2008
This week, John McCain's position as the presumed Republican nominee was confirmed by his position in the polls and his big victories in the Wisconsin and Washington primary elections. The Gallup national tracking survey now shows John McCain leading with 62 percent of the Republican vote and Mike Huckabee with only 22 percent. This is a new high for John McCain and the lowest vote share for Mike Huckabee since prior to his Super Tuesday victories.
Our internal count of delegates puts us at 1055 delegates, 136 delegates away from clinching the nomination. This count includes privately pledged RNC members and a few estimates on what we received in states like Iowa – where the actual delegates will be selected soon at State Conventions. We are confident that the contests on March 4, where more than 250 delegates will be up for grabs, will provide John McCain with enough delegates to officially become the Republican nominee for president.
Pollsters are shifting their attention to the general election match-up where John McCain is competitive against both Democratic candidates. John McCain leads Hillary Clinton by 4 points on the most recent three days of Rasmussen's daily tracking survey and trails Barack Obama by 3-4 points over the same recent tracking data. As the general election heats up, the race will remain close.

Tuesday brought great victories for John McCain in the Wisconsin and Washington primaries. Each victory brings us closer to the necessary number of delegates to officially make John McCain the presumptive nominee.
John McCain said on Tuesday night, "We have traveled a great distance together already in this campaign, and overcome more than a few obstacles. But as I said last week, now comes the hard part and, for America, the bigger decision. Will we make the right changes to restore the people's trust in their government and meet the great challenges of our time with wisdom, and with faith in the values and ability of Americans for whom no challenge is greater than their resolve, courage and patriotism? Or will we heed appeals for change that ignore the lessons of history, and lack confidence in the intelligence and ideals of free people?"

Would it even be legal for Hillary to become president......
Okay, we all know(or most americans do) that one president is limited to only two terms(eight years) in the whitehouse. If (god forbid) hillary makes it, we all know who will be running the country.......thats right, Billy Boy! That spells three terms in office to me. Unconstitutional. At best there must be 'round the clock recordings of their time together, as the people, we should demand that the patriot act include Bill Clinton to assure that he doesnt have in effect a third term in office!

In my own words
I have a mundane job, I punch a clock, and put in 45 plus hours a week. Three nights a week I voluntarily clean a barn that houses three Arabian horses. My daughter takes riding lessons there; and help was needed to clean the stalls, excersise the horses, and groom and give them love and attention....easy, horses are incredable animals. Hard work, but easy on the soul. A coworker asked me about the primary back in the spring of 2007, and Matt Mayberry got my coworker and me tickets to the debate at UNH. We got there to find that Matt had us sitting in the second row! I was right behind Mitt Romney's wife, and next to Ruth Griffin, former Executive Counsilor. She and I had a great chat as she knitted while we waited for the debate to start. Ruth was not too impressed with the power struggles of politics, more important to her was honesty and humility, someone who could look her in the eyes and say, "this is me." like me or dont, but "I wont compromise my core beliefs to get a vote." I believe that she has endorsed Mike Huckabee, but at the debate she spoke very highly of Senator McCain as well. She, along with the setting and the feel of that night, inspired me to become more active than I ever have been in politics before. I was hooked.I went to every town hall meeting that I could where John McCain was going to be, and at the very first one, where I met him for the first time, he veered away from the way he was walking out, towards where I was standing, alone, looked me right in the eyes and said "Good to see you my old friend, glad you could make it". Then as our handshake faded, he pulled me in closer to him, said "thanks for serving" in the Air force, and we embraced, as veterans often do. It was all I could do to stammer out"Senator, it's YOU who are the hero, YOU who has given most of your life in service to this country, and I want to thank YOU." Again, he looked me in the eye and smiled, then moved back into his pre-determined path, and continued out to the bus. The hook was now set! I helped out a little at setting up a few more town hall meeting places, have made it to several phone banks, have yard signs out front, and a big 4x8 sign in the back yard as I live on the commuter rail that runs between Dover and Portland. I have a few pictures that were taken with the Senator, and one of them he signed for me, at the leadership meeting in concord. I stood outside the polls when the local towns had their elections, passing out invitations to another town hall meeting, sent out more emails than I can remember, and all this time I have watched our favorite canidate gain momentum and support from the great people of New Hampshire. I met Mehgan McCain at one town hall meeting, a very friendly and polite young lady. Three weeks later, I ran into her again, at the leadership meeting in Concord. Do you think she'd remember me? I looked like a long haired hippy vet the first time we met, and was in a suit with my hair pulled back and clean shaven when we saw each other in Concord. She came right up to me and said "Hi! We met at the town hall meeting three weeks ago, remember?" I was shocked and amazed. With all the hustle and bustle of life on the campaign trail, she and her friends remembered me! John McCain had my vote back at the VFW when we embraced, but I learned even more about the man in how Mehgan represented herself. A man can be sized up by his family; John McCain is a winner. We need John McCain as the next president of the United States of America. I will continue to do all that I can to help make that happen, God help us all if it doesnt happen.

The Criminal Record of Mitt Romney Arrests and Other Contacts with Law Enforcement WAYLAND, MASS. (1981) -- ARREST- DISORDERLY CONDUCT. In June 1981, ROMNEY attempted to launch family motorboat at Cochituate State Park despite park ranger advising that he was prohibited from doing so because his boat did not display proper registration. ROMNEY was arrested and charged with disorderly conduct. ROMNEY handcuffed and transported in bathing suit to Natick police station, where released on own recognizance.5 Disposition: Charges were dropped when ROMNEY threatened to sue the state for false arrest; case dismissed at Natick District Court in February 1982. ROMNEY successfully petitioned that the files be sealed.6 BLOOMFIELD HILLS, MICH. (c. 1965) -- ARREST- CHARGE NOT KNOWN. ROMNEY was arrested along with future wife Ann Davies for actions in connection with practical joke at Cranbrook Academy. Reportedly ROMNEY and several friends "bought huge blocks of ice from the local gas station, laid towels over them, and went sliding down the slopes of a nearby golf course."7 HUNTSVILLE, UTAH (2002) -- USE OF PROFANITY WITH LAW ENFORCEMENT On February 10, 2002, while overseeing 2002 Winter Olympics, ROMNEY became extremely angry upon encountering a traffic jam at a venue and proceeded to berate two persons authorized to direct traffic there, including with obscenity laced tirades, according to a police captain at the scene and a volunteer targeted by ROMNEY. The traffic volunteer Shaun Knopp stated that ROMNEY "asked me who the f___ I was and what the f___ I was doing. We got the Olympics going on we don't need this s___ down here."8 Weber County Sheriff's Office Capt. Terry Shaw, commander of the Snowbasin venue, stated that ROMNEY twice used the F-word while also berating one of his officers, Deputy Kodi Taggart. Capt. Shaw stated that ROMNEY "was abusive" to his officer and advised, unsuccessfully, that "he needs to apologize."9 ROMNEY denied part of the allegation, insisting he hadn't used the F-word since high school -- but admitted he used a word he described as "H-E-double hockey sticks." Disposition: The Utah Department of Safety advised it had decided against initiating a "profanity probe."10 Known Associates FABIAN, ALAN: Until August 2007, FABIAN was a national finance committee co-chair for ROMNEY. Now under federal indictment for mail fraud, money laundering, bankruptcy fraud, perjury, obstruction of justice and defrauding companies of $32 million in Maryland.11 GARRITY, JAY (a/k/a "Trooper"): Until July 2007, GARRITY provided security and advance for ROMNEY whom he codenamed "LXX"; GARRITY now under investigation in Massachusetts and New Hampshire for impersonating a police officer and other charges.12 HEALEY, KERRY MURPHY (a/k/a "SHERRY" 13): HEALEY recruited by ROMNEY as accomplice for 2002 Governor's race; subsequently relegated to background role. Republicans searching for a Ronald Reagan among the presidential nominees have not found one because there isn't one. Yet they still seek him.
We understand. We endorsed Ronald Reagan in 1976, 1980 and 1984. Since he exited the stage, America has missed his strength, vision and leadership.
The Republican presidential candidates all have invoked Reagan's name. Perhaps there is a little Reagan in each of them. But there is only one candidate who really reminds us of Ronald Reagan.
We agree with conservative critics who say John McCain has strayed on some issues, including immigration. But they forget that Reagan did, too. He supported amnesty for illegal aliens, and he even called it that.
No candidate in this race is a pure Reaganite. Mitt Romney claims to be one, but we have our doubts. What we see in Romney does not remind us of Ronald Reagan. What we see in John McCain does.McCain is a leader of the Reagan school. Concord Monitor: Republicans' Best Choice Is John McCain

Like the gyroscopes that keep ships and planes on course, firm principles and a profound sense of honor guide Sen. John McCain. He learns from his mistakes, but he does not abandon long-held beliefs, even when his stands could cost him the presidency.
McCain's willingness to break with his party on issues like climate change and immigration, his honesty and his refusal to pander make him the Monitor's choice in the Jan. 8 Republican presidential primary.
Last summer in Concord, with his campaign broke and his unwavering support for the war in Iraq costing him politically, McCain said he would rather lose the presidential race than lose the war. No one in the room doubted that he meant exactly what he said. Since then, he has earned the support of New Hampshire voters by attending town meeting after town meeting, where he has invited tough questions and answered them.
McCain advocates an immigration policy that secures the border but stops short of the impossible task of summarily deporting the millions of people in the United States illegally. His attempt to pass immigration reform, McCain says, taught him that the American people won't trust politicians to deal with the issue unless they secure the borders first. This admission is proof that politicians can change for good reasons, not for expediency's sake.
Although his plan to address the nation's growing health insurance crisis is too modest to guarantee care for all, it is more reasonable than the plans of his opponents.
Unlike rivals who hide behind legalisms and caveats, McCain stands front and center to announce that American must never engage in waterboarding or any other form of torture. McCain spent more than five years as a prisoner of war in Vietnam. In one of the most stirring speeches of the presidential campaign, he said:
"We could never gain as much from that torture as we lose in world opinion. We do not torture people. When I was in Vietnam, one of the things that sustained us, as we underwent torture, is the knowledge that if we had our positions reversed, we would not impose that kind of treatment on them. It's not about the terrorists, it's about us. It's about what kind of country we are."
When McCain approaches a decision, his first battle is with his own conscience. He doesn't put his finger into the political wind but runs against it if need be to do what he thinks is right.
In his long career in public life, he has proved to be a fiscal conservative and a strong believer in personal responsibility. But he has also shown that he knows that life can be fickle and people frail, and that there are times when government must help people in need.
We do not agree with McCain on every issue. We doubted the wisdom of committing more American troops to a surge in Iraq, yet events may prove McCain right. Either way, we are secure in the knowledge that in coming to his decision, McCain put the well-being of the nation and the troops above all else.
As a soldier and a senator, McCain has proven that he can lead. His legislative history demonstrates his willingness to work in a bipartisan manner to achieve common ends. And because he has paid the price of war, he more than the other candidates can gauge whether putting troops in harm's way is worth the consequences.
Earlier in the campaign, when McCain was being counted out, a consultant might have urged a makeover: Lose the moral compass on torture and immigration, ditch the vision for a turnaround in Iraq.
Not a chance. John McCain held on to his principles and defended them with dignity.
New Hampshire residents who vote in the Republican primary should reward that integrity with their votes.

As a soldier and a senator, McCain has proven that he can lead. His legislative history demonstrates his willingness to work in a bipartisan manner to achieve common ends. And because he has paid the price of war, he more than the other candidates can gauge whether putting troops in harm's way is worth the consequences.
Earlier in the campaign, when McCain was being counted out, a consultant might have urged a makeover: Lose the moral compass on torture and immigration, ditch the vision for a turnaround in Iraq.
Not a chance. John McCain held on to his principles and defended them with dignity.
New Hampshire residents who vote in the Republican primary should reward that integrity with their votes.
